iTunes Review

Coming out of the Bay Area, Motion Man got his start on the legendary Wake Up Show program, and dropped his first solo single in 1993. Known for his freewheeling, unpredictable rhyme style, multiple vocal tricks, and hyperactive lyricism, he has appeared on countless records, working extensively with Kool Keith, as well as fellow Cali veterans Too Short, Del, and E-40. Originally released in 2006, Pablito's Way is his second solo album, produced entirely by longtime associate KutMasta Kurt. Mixing bugged-out humor with justifiable bravado, Motion goes off about his dedication to hip-hop ("Down for the Fight"), domestic beer appreciation ("I Crack Tall Ones" featuring Mistah FAB), and female anatomy lessons ("Dat A*s"). Kurt's beats set the stage perfectly, with an array of punchy drums and freaky samples certain to put your neck to work. Underground but never nerdy, catchy without being corny, Pablito's Way is a truly dope record from an under-appreciated talent.

The Terrorist

Motion Man was, and always will be The Terrorist. Anyone that has the balls to hate on him doesn't have the brains to match. Shut up haters, before you get Cleared From The Field!!!!!

The Bay's OTHER Favorite Son

Motion has been a staple of Bay Area music ever since I can remember. He used to do drops for Rick Chase on KMEL for those of you that know... Then there was the infamous Wake Up Show when it was still broadcast in the Bay, not syndicated. Motion is ill. Straight up. I've been a fan ever since I heard him and copped the "Sprung" soundtrack just for the Noggen Nodder track. Pablito's Way is by far his best effort I've heard. I admit, I was a little disappointed with Clearing the Field, other than the track with my man LC and "Make it, Sell it, Recoup." With Pablito, he's not only ill as ever, but the beats make me scrunch my face and bob my head. Tracks to look for here... "Confidence", "Pablito's Way", and "Professional Experts." Thanks for holding down Hayward and the entire Bay again! Peace.

Biography

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Years Active: '90s, '00s

A rapper since the '80s, Motion Man has dozens of highlight features, though few of them have appeared on his own records. While Kool Keith fans know him for his tracks on three of Keith's LPs (Black Elvis, Sex Style, First Come, First Served) and fans of The Wake up Show would recognize his rhymes in a flash, his best-known track of all, "The Terrorist," was done under the heading of Russian mixer/producer DJ Vadim. He also guested for several tracks on the KutMasta Kurt record Masters of Illusion,...
