Calm Down

I find it quite amusing that so many people are angry by not having a sodding clean version of Creep. First off, musicians wether or not they use explit language in there songs, write what they feel and express themselves. I thinks it's insulting to demand someone to sacrifice their talent just to give the sensitive masses something they can play for their children. It's RADIOHEAD. Thome Yorke is a genius and maybe instead of sheltering your kids let them enjoy good music since their going to hear much worse in school. Second, there are other great songs on this album like Blow Out. Keep an open mind and relax people. Cheers.

Worst from Radiohead

Other than Creep there is nothing special here. If you want to get into Radiohead do not start with this. The Bends and OK Computer are very good starting points.

Caution: Pablo Honey is VERY different from the others

Not necessarily bad, but has a very different style/feel from the others--enough so that I now understand why people feel so strongly one way or the other about this album. I expected early 1990's mainstream alternative (Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, maybe even Live), but as much as I hate to say it, the songs reminded me more of the Gin Blossoms than anything else. To be fair, I didn't listen to all the songs from start to finish, but I just couldn't--the last thing I wanted was to hear my beloved Radiohead sounding like the Gin Blossoms. Yikes.

Still, I always liked Creep, and Blow Out wasn't bad either--those were the only two that I thought sounded somewhat characteristic of Radiohead (w/rt song construction--I dunno about the guitar work or what-not). Everything else is....sigh. I dunno. You'll just have to hear it and decide for yourself. Sadly wasn't my cup of tea tho.

Biography

Formed: 1989 in Oxford, England

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Radiohead were one of the few alternative bands of the early '90s to draw heavily from the grandiose arena rock that characterized U2's early albums. But the band internalized that epic sweep, turning it inside out to tell tortured, twisted tales of angst and alienation. Vocalist Thom Yorke's pained lyrics were brought to life by the group's three-guitar attack, which relied on texture — borrowing as much from My Bloody Valentine and Pink Floyd as R.E.M. and Pixies — instead of virtuosity....
