Page Steps Out in Style

There are obvious echos of Phish throughout this work, but if you were not familiar with Page's work there, this collection stands alone as a well crafted selection of tunes more pop than rock. Actually I hear more a Paul McCartney influence with a coloring of sound effects and accents in the wings that enhance the music without overpowering the instrumental foundation and sounding gimmicky. As a 53 year old listener, I especially appreciate hearing the legendary drummer Jim Keltner adding class and getting into the experimental groove along with the younger but talented artists. Nicely done.

Page goes Postal Service!

This was a nice little surprise for me. I was not expecting so much fusion in this album. There are some great tracks in this mix. I just finished my first listen to the whole thing so I can't comment on whether it's going to stand the test of time, but I really enjoyed the majority of these tunes. The best ones for me were: Heavy Rotation, Maid Marian, Back in the Basement, and Everyone But Me. Most all of them were solid. It isn't perfect, but it's pretty ****ing good.

Great record!

It's not a Phish record, but that's not what you expect from a Page solo project. You can tell this record was his baby, as it sounds almost exactly like I would hope a Page record would, as he as said "...even more than Vida Blue". Funky cuts, ballads, and great grooves throughout. Highly recommended for those who loved Page's work in Phish.
