It is about time
I was just talking to voice teacher in May about The Sixteen and I mentioned that I wished they would do more music by Palestrina. Its like they read my mind! But in a much better way than I imagined. This album is only the beginning of a whole project that will included numerous volumes of Palestrina music. This album is a good way to start the series, with the music for the assumption. Assumpta Est Maria, the motet along with the Mass are definitely the highlights on this album but the rest of the music is just as wonderful. I'm in love with this CD and can't wait for the next volumes to be released. Palestrina is the master of Renaissance polyphony and The Sixteen and Harry Christophers are masters at singing it. A wonderful combination makes for a moving and glorious album. All I can say to the choir is, thank you for this.
