Great New Sound

I really like MxPx's old stuff, and ive been listening to them for my whole life. but this album is one of my favorites out of all of them because it has a newer sound and differs alot from the music they used to play when they were 16. Its less punk rock, and more like alternative rock. if you want their punk rock music, i suggest buying slowly going the way of the buffalo. great album, and has alot of their older hits.

Best album by far

This was 1st album of the new sounding MXPX and they nailed it. Getting away from A&M Records was great decision because bands get more creative input when they sign with independent labels (Side One Dummy Records). In fact, A&M was making this band extremely soft and slowing ruining their sound all together. I have to disagree with Caleb with the fact that this record isn't as "punk rock" as "Slowing Going The Way of The Buffalo". Granted there are some great songs like the opener, "Under Lock and Key", which is an up tempo track. However, the rest of the album sounds pretty "poppy" to me. Anyways, "Panic" offers some great cuts like the opener "Darkest Places" which introduces exactly what you're in for. "Heard That Sound" is their first single and it's a great song to sing along to. In fact, I think this is their best single by far. Also, my two favorites on the album are "Colds Streets" and "The Story. Both songs feature great guitar riffs and "Cold Streets" offers a great chorus to sing along to. Some people may find "Wrecking Hotel Rooms" which features Mark Hoppus as a favorite but I'm more of a fan of the faster cuts. "Get Me Out" is their hardest song on the album and is great when you need to get pumped and jacked for a football game, working out or whatever. Lastly, Mike sounds great on vocals and the guitars are really beefed up for this album. I like their new sound.

MxPx Rocks

This is my favorite album from MxPx. My second favorite album from them is Teenage Politics. This album has an amazing sound. It has some really catchy songs. My favorite songs are The Darkest Places and Wrecking Hotel Rooms, but most of these songs are amazing. I recomend buying this album.

Biography

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

The Christian-themed punk-pop outfit MxPx formed in 1993 in Bremerton, WA. Originally dubbed Magnified Plaid, the group launched while its three members — vocalist/bassist Mike Herrera, drummer Yuri Ruley, and guitarist Andy Husted — were still attending high school. The moniker was later shortened to MxPx after Ruley abbreviated the name on some show flyers; poor handwriting saw the periods being interpreted as x's instead, and the name stuck. Wielding an energetic sound that was...
