Paquito d'Rivera has gotten a lot more interesting since he quit Irakere. The soul of the afro-cuban music, out of the limits. The most talented people together giving us a perfect gift. Perfection. More than a classic. A monument that will remain forever.

Reunion

This is truly one of Paquito's best. Sandoval is supurb. Chucho Valdez's Claudia is one of my all time favorate ballads, and this arrangement is outstanding. Paquito plays clarinet with great virtuosity on Latin America Suite. Danilo Perez, Fareed Haque, David Finck and Mark Walker were perhaps Paquito's best ensamble. Check out the Havana Cafe cd also. I have more of Paquito on my iPos than any one else.

Apparently he is capable of playing anything, proving it more than once by tackling classical repertoire as well as jazz in the same concert, and he has enough curiosity to search...
