Album Review

Written by Ingrid Michaelson and A&R exec Marshall Altman, “Parachute” was a chart-topping hit for Cheryl Cole before Michaelson reclaimed the song and released her own version in late 2010. Far more pop-influenced than her earlier material, the song shows the full scope of Michaelson’s writing, while Dan Romer’s production proves he’s just as comfortable reshaping the rules of Top 40 radio as he is working with homespun folk-pop fare.

Michaelson is always fantastic

To Captain23rd - blatant ripoff of Charlie Simpson? I'm not sure how that can be possible since she wrote and recorded the song BEFORE him. Figure that one out for me.

To mrmacdnyc - to each their own. I, however, think Ingrid has more heartbreaking emotion than most contemporary artists out there. Perhaps you've not deeply listened to her other stuff.

To me - she is brilliant, and Parachute became my #1 played song within 2 months of downloading it. Thankfully, the acoustic version, which was up one day gone the next, is finally up for real. And it is a treat.

No need.

Great. Enough said.

Stick with the Cheryl Cole Version

Michaelson has made a career of singing without much emotion. At least in Cole's version the singer sounds as if she means what she says.
