One of my FAVORITE Pride CDs!

I love a good remake/cover song. Way before Glee, DJs were constantly making new mixes of songs, the vast majority of which never were released. So other labels would "cover" the songs so that we could have great new dance remixes of songs we loved. "Heaven" and "Please Don't Go" were two of my favorites back in the day and I love these new remixes - staying true to the old but adding enough elements to bring the songs current. Debby Holiday gives us her fabulous diva vocals on this classic. And yes, Audio Playground covered Erasure's A Little Respect, in homage, but AP's new version was a BIG hit in Canada and stands on its own, much like the fun, Hi-NRG mixes on the rest of the album. It is PRIDE after all - songs that are supposed to make you feel good and happy. Not to mention that Kimberley Locke's new mega-hit "Strobelight" is one of the songs of the summer. Thanks to her new label for letting her song be part of this celebratory CD. Diva Suzanne Palmer and Edson Pride also turn out a great new mix of "Fame", which was one of my favorite movies as a teenager! And I love what the remixers are doing with tribute band The Nicks new takes on Fleetwood Mac classics - it is about time someone is covering these great songs for the dance floor! Overall, this is definitely one of my FAVORITE Pride CDs! Thanks, Centaur. Only for next year, please get it out earlier in June! :-)

Why not the original artists?

I know that this is just disposable, meaningless, fluffy dance music, but why can't they just do dance re-mixes of the original songs instead of getting singers who in some cases sound nothing like andy bell or stevie nicks ("the nicks"? really?)? and yet they still charge $1.29 per song! I'll buy a couple of these songs, but i'll remix the originals on my own for the rest and have something better.

Proud!

Happy and Proud to be a part of this compilation as part of the production team on "Heaven." Working with John LePage and Debby Holiday was a joy. And the Wayne G remix is stellar I'm loving this album. Great happy vibe through out the album. Rocky my iPod. Let the music play!
