An incredible, understated record...
"Pass it Along" is a great record. Ultratone's second release -- this is some great alternative pop/rock. Rather than trying to deliver the overplayed "sound du jour," Ultratone treads in the territories they know, delivering confident/competent music that you will queue up on your iPod, or in your car, for a very long time. So many of these songs are wonderfully infectious. Faves include... "Pass it Along," "Burning Daylight," "Right on Time," Walk On By," "Black and White," "Motel." While these tracks stand on their own, definitely spring for the whole record. These strong "singles" only complement an equally strong album composition. You can't go wrong with this one. Now, I'm just hoping we will find Ultratone's first (self-titled) release on iTMS very soon!
A Must!
The sound of the band, with some wonderful influences, is also very unique and ethereal. The tightness of the arrangements, the musicianship of the artists, and the poetic simplicity of the songwriting is quite something to behold. This second release by the band is a good companion in the car and on the iPod. For me, the greatest quality of the sound is how the lead vocals aren't so much out in front and in your face, but treated as an instrument.
