Patton
The only thing wrong with this version is that it does not include the opening and closing speeches as on the original album. Like the General himself, the emotional dynamics of the music match the temperment of the romantic warrior that he was. In a day when current generals have no honor and are only concerned with rank, it is great to listen to the music and reflect on one who knew what his purpose was. As it was once said the summon of the trumpet calls only a few who matter-if you listen you will hear this.
Disappointed
While this is technically the soundtrack from the movie, the alternative soundtrack (which includes 5 bonus tracks from Tora! Tora! Tora!) is far superior in quality in my opinion. When I think of the movie, I think of rousing military themes, loud brass, and large amounts of pomp. The other soundtrack delivers it in a much more robust fasion.
Not "Technically" Anything...
This is the official, original score recording that was used in the motion picture. This is far and away better than the compilation with Tora! Tora! Tora!, another excellent score for another excellent film, because a mere compilation album do not do these musical works justice. This original soundtrack is the only way to go. My ears will miss ya, Jerry.
