Excellent!
What if Marlene Dietrich played the 'cello? Such an immediately intimate voice along the lines of a modern-day Edith Piaf combined with such ardent virtuosity on the strings makes for a seductive combination. If there's a weak spot, it's that Ashia's singing is a little self-conscious in a way her playing is not. I'd like to hear her relax a bit vocally and dig into more variety in the overall sound, but that's like saying that a luscious creme brulee was served with a spoon that was a bit too large. Spectacular debut -- here's hoping to hear (and see) more of Ashia.
The Only Thing Better Than This CD...
...Is seeing her live! You may think "oh the album is short" and that much is true.. but it's certainly not short on quality. Keep your eyes on this girl, she's goin' places...
