Interesting tidbit

The content of this is great. Great music, great guitar solos, and interesting banter about the origin of the Mothers that I hadn't heard before.

But, charging $6.99 for one song and calling it an EP?
Just more of the GZ way of "respecting" the fans.

mixed feelings - 3.5 stars (if i could give a .5)

(from the perspective of a 40+ year hardcore fz fanatic and collection completist who loves what dweezil is doing with zpz...)

26 minute track from 5/10/74, auditorium theatre, chicago (mother's day midnight) - fz, george, simmons, nappy, dom de wild, fowlers 3, ralph and chester. interesting that ruth is not present here but was two months later when i saw them at the ambassador theatre in st. louis.

on first listen i think parts of this ended up on roxy... some vocal elements are very close (will have to listen more closely when i'm not @ work.) about 7:45 penguin ends and they vamp over the changes while fz recounts a truncated history of paul buff, studio z, the broadside, mondo hollywood, herb, the whisky, tom wilson, recording freak out!... then at about 24:00 he does a short solo and the track fades out as george starts soloing.

$6.99 for an almost 30 minute EP isn't unusual... but it's essentially only one song (with a lot of talking.) nice sound for a 256k mp4... one of my favorite bands... but is this essential? i dunno... but i definitely feel better about buying it than "congress shall make no law..."

in case any emptors want to caveat... there you go.

Killer Penguin!

Killer version of Penguin in Bondage!! Followed by a detailed history of the Mothers, ending with a nice blue jam! I Sounds great! I only wish there was more...lots more! Please hear my plea FZT!!
