iTunes Review

The Doors recorded six studio albums with Jim Morrison as their lead vocalist, and their music has been collected so many times it's difficult to keep track. This collection features all six studio albums, along with bonus cuts of varying but intriguing quality. "Break on Through (To the Other Side)" and "The End" are presented in their modern forms with new mixes and unedited versions included (it's now "she get high" instead of "she get" for "Break on Through," and there's quite a bit of new moaning during "The End"). The 17-minute "Celebration of the Lizard" is an essential part of The Doors' myth. Alternate takes, b-sides, and live cuts round out the original releases. The many versions of "Roadhouse Blues" show just how hard the band worked at nailing down what sounded like an effortless performance. The sound is excellent, and there's no arguing with the band's catalog. From "Light My Fire" through "Riders on the Storm," The Doors were a creative and imaginative group that sounded like none before or since. It's just a matter of determining what you already own. For a new Doors obsessive, this gets it all done.

5.1?

Do not buy this here. If you must have it you need to purchase it in person. It has to much extra that iTunes does not offer. The 5.1 surround sound mix is the biggest. When will the iPod be able to play both stereo and 5.1?

Babylon Doors

Well, the seller's selling anything, from the insipid to the ingenious. This is a scam and whoever has agreed to release this stuff so indiscriminately has spurned the legacy of The Doors. Most of these 2006 releases have been indiscriminately edited and selected, the only motive being nothing but sheer greed and avarice. Remember Morrison's own words: "Successful hills are here to stay / all our lives we sweat and save / digging for a shallow grave." Jim would not approve. Shame on you guys.

An ***** product but id rather buy the actual boxed set...

Iv been a Doors fan now for about 2 and a half months and i cant get enough of there music! I would get this but only as the actual boxed set because this iTunes verions does not have all the videos that come with the real thing. They did cut the price from 129.99 to well, i forgot, i think it was 59.99. This is the definitive box set for the hardcore Doors fan but id recommend you just getting the complete boxed set at a store, even if its 129.99

Years Active: '60s, '70s

The Doors, one of the most influential and controversial rock bands of the 1960s, were formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by UCLA film students Ray Manzarek, keyboards, and Jim Morrison, vocals; with drummer John Densmore and guitarist Robby Krieger. The group never added a bass player, and their sound was dominated by Manzarek's electric organ work and Morrison's deep, sonorous voice, with which he sang and intoned his highly poetic...
