Excellent
So Robert Smith himself has praised this tribute. And for good reason, these songs are all excellent. Exceptional cast of musicians who stretched themselves well beyond reproducing mere "covers," but at the same time, maintained a fine balance atop respect to The Cure's anthology. Standouts: Every song on here. But my favorites would be Jesu's interpretation of A Funeral Party, Indian Jewelry's take on The Walk, Xu Xu Fang's witch-housey genius rendition of Fascination Street, and Rio En Medio's version of Picture's Of You. All of the music was inspired by one of the greatest bands ever, but it is so good that it could stand on its own regardless.
