Album Review

James Horner composes and conducts the music for Wolfgang Petersen's The Perfect Storm, another film about a star-crossed ship. Horner's sweeping, portentous score mirrors the true story of the crew of the Andrea Gail, a fishing boat caught in a deadly Northeaster in 1991. Despite somewhat overblown tendencies on some pieces, the album is a dramatic and emotional piece of film music for an equally gripping movie. Indeed, the score for The Perfect Storm may prove to be as popular as Horner's Titanic music. The album also includes John Mellencamp's theme for the film, "Yours Forever."

Great Sea Music

This was a great movie with a great composer doing the score. Everytime I watched the movie I hum to myself to tracks 1,3,4. The brass in those songs are strong and it makes you feel like you could do that job while you watched the movie. I also hope that the unabridged audiobook comes to Itunes very soon because I love stories about how mother nature can show her bad side. Every time you listen to these tracks you will feel like you are sailing with them in the movie. FISH ON!!

One of the best Albums I've ever purchased

I see a lot of people saying Horner does "rehashes". They aren't that close and besides, money makes the world go 'round so if it ain't broke don't fix it; if a score is doing well financially why not take some hints. I have a LOT of Horner's work, including "Glory" and I don't see any commonalities.
