iTunes Review

Tupac’s old crew Outlawz have released what’s supposedly their final project; it also serves as a tribute to their homie/mentor/founding member. The three survivors (EDI Mean, Fatal Hussein, and Young Noble) still sound pretty solid, though 'Pac is certainly missed on these 16 tracks. Generally mellow and reflective, Perfect Timing benefits from solid production and a long list of all-star collaborators, including Bun B ("100 MPH"), Scarface ("Pushin On"), Krayzie Bone ("Don't Wait"), and Z-Ro with Trae Tha Truth ("Paranoid"). The beats come courtesy of lesser-known but promising artists like Cozmo, Tha Formula, and Aktual, who provide catchy, neck-bending backdrops to the verses. If you’re a fan of their earlier classic Still I Rise, or even their 2006 mixtape with dead prez Can't Sell Dope Forever, this is a strong effort sure to be devoured by legions of Tupac fans.

In 1999 they were co-billed on the posthumous 2Pac album Still I Rise, granting them even more recognition and furthering their short-lived affiliation. It wasn't until late 2000, though, that they finally got the go-ahead to release their debut album, Ride wit Us or Collide wit Us. Featuring a cover...
