DESTINY by Clint Crisher

First of all, I believe DESTINY by Clint Crisher to be one of the most beautifully honest songs ever written! A beautiful piece of music with humble lyrics and sincere expression gracefully reveal the bitter sweet emotion of falling in love with your best friend. This heartfelt ballad explores the depths of desire and fear on the journey toward the artist’s arrival at DESTINY. The propensity to define love weaves an agonizing element of choice to this masterpiece all the while knowing that DESTINY is not a destination but rather an evolution of being. Some believe that friendship is the greatest love of all, yet society places more value on romantic (sexual) love. We’ve all experienced the blush of new love (or is it a rush?) where you can’t keep your hands off of each other or get your bodies close enough fast enough. Levels of attraction vary, but arousal is one of love’s early symptoms. Why are we compelled to express ourselves sexually when we fall in love? Maybe it’s a chemical reaction, an overwhelming influx of serotonin and endorphins “in the name of love!” Biological sounds reasonable and justified. Is it too much to suggest that being turned on is an innate reflex after centuries of pressure to procreate? Well, one thing we know for sure is that sex feels good… but it is indescribable when you’re with someone you know. Oops, I mean love! I needed to get silly before I get serious... I am inspired and moved by the idea of DESTINY. I believe ‘true love’ is best defined as an inimitable connection of energy and consciousness leading to an invincible bond and boundless intimacy. If you are fortunate to find such an amazing gift, maybe the magic you possess can quiet the urgency to tear each other’s clothes off. If it is true love, DESTINY will manifest and all will be realized over time. We’re all in such a rush to get our groove on but if you think about it… even the most heated love affairs deteriorate at about 6 months. The sex loses its thunder, the butterflies, goose bumps and heart palpitations are long gone and suddenly everything your lover does irritates you. Almost like a light switch, the lust, crush, or whatever you shared is gone. Was it love? I doubt it. With love, all things (sex included!) should get better with time. Don’t get me wrong, ooh-baby passion has it place, but like Tina says, “What’s love got to do with it?” So, the impending question of DESTINY remains: If the two friends act on their passion will it bring them closer and provide a means to nourish their love? Or will it distract them and toss them into that destructive pattern of possessiveness and jealousy that often occurs between lovers, ultimately robbing them of the magnificent love they shared as “just friends.” The other burning question: Why does romantic love (despite being cast as more valued and intimate) have an ugly stigma of being temporary and ending badly, while friendship love is declared capable of everlasting? Do we have place unconscious measurements on romantic love? Or have unspoken expectations of our lovers? I don’t know, but we have got to stop the conditioning to allow greater experience of love for all! It’s been said “love makes the world go round.” No price tag necessary, a priceless treasure, love is invaluable yet free. So in this tangible world, look around you’ll see that love surrounds us; it’s our purpose, our DESTINY. Below are the lyrics and video link to DESTINY. Your comments are welcomed and appreciated.
