Dr. Charlie's Diagnosis/Analysis

Excuse me Mr. Floyd Adict, but i don't really believe you are correct on anything you said about this song. I believe this song is about self-sufficiency and solving your own problems. Jesus being the Suffering Messiah, who guides you through and works you through all of your problems. And personal, being you, yourself. The song is about solving your own problems. On your own. Which is one of the Big lifestyles Mr. Manson lives by. I don't feel this song is really talking about Jesus Himself. So, I write this to respectfully disagree with you. Marilyn Manson is my personal hero and I AM a doctor, so I think I know what I'm talking about. You can find me at myspace.com/coma_black_33 if any of you would like to discuss this any further. ps: i love Raquel.

I LOVE my Personal Jesus

First of all, I'm not the biggest fan of MM. Not that I don't like him or anything, but sometimes his music just isn't to my taste. But when I do hear a song of his I like, I pay attention. Personal Jesus is one of those songs. I LOVE this song. The beat may be extremely similar to the original, but there are a few other instruments in this song that make it Manson's unique style. Of course, the lyrics are sung amazingly well, with the same coy sexiness in his voice that accompanies the words to many other Manson songs. The video is very well produced to, if you like this song, you will probably like the video. Oh, and for all you people freaking out about the fact Manson's producing a song called " Personal Jesus" please research the meaning of the song title and lyrics before you starting bitching. This song has nothing to do with Jesus, but the dangerous dependency you can place on something or someone that leaves you incapable of surviving on your own. At least that's what I got from it.

Dr. Charlie

Not to add flames to the fires or anything, but this song is actually more about people being saviors for one another, now maybe for Manson the meaning has changed but since it was an original song by the Depeche Mode, the original meaning still holds some measure of merit. The song itself was inspired by the book "Elvis and Me" by Priscilla Presley. According to songwriter Martin Gore, "It's a song about being a Jesus for somebody else, someone to give you hope and care. It's about how Elvis was her man and her mentor and how often that happens in love relationships; how everybody's heart is like a god in some way, and that's not a very balanced view of someone, is it?" Now, all that aside, this is a good song, not the greatest version of it, but still pretty solid all around.

Love him or hate him, the self-proclaimed "Antichrist Superstar" — Marilyn Manson — was indisputably among the most notorious and controversial entertainers of the 1990s. Celebrated by supporters as a crusader for free speech and denounced by detractors as little more than a poor man's Alice Cooper, Manson was the latest in a long line of shock rockers, rising to the top of the charts on a platform of sex, drugs, and Satanism. Though widely dismissed by critics, his brand of metal nevertheless...
