Album Review

Contains one of the Ramones' biggest radio hits, "Pet Sematary" (written for Stephen King's movie of the same name), "I Believe in Miracles," and "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight)." The final Ramones album recorded for Sire Records (their label from day one), and sadly, the last to feature bassist and creative leader Dee Dee Ramone.

When I Was 12

by CreachaFeacha

This was the first Ramones album I purchased, after seeing the video for Pet Semetary. I didn't know who the Ramones were at the time. In the late 80's, the Ramones had somewhat temporarily disappeared from mainstream consciousness. I got the first album next, and my life was changed. Hello, punk rock. Goodbye, hair rock. And I've loved loved loved the Ramones ever since. During the 90's, with the rise of grunge and what have you, the Ramones re-entered the public consciousness, taking their rightful throne at the court of rock n' roll. What would be do without 'em? I miss 'em!

It's Good...

You cannot beat the first 4 Ramones albums... they are the best ever... With that aside, this was sadly, the last album Dee Dee played on :(
I kinda consider this to be the last "real" Ramones album because it is just so weird listening to CJ sing Dee Dee's songs, but what can you do? The album has it's moments. I Believe In Miracles, Palisades Park, Pet Sematary, and Can't Get You Outta My Mind are my recommendations. Also download Merry Christmas. It's a good album, but like all of the later Ramones albums, it isn't great.

My opinion, the best Ramones album. One of the top 10 rock/punk albums ever.

The Ramones are the first punk rock band. Other bands, such as the Stooges and the New York Dolls, came before them and set the stage and aesthetic for punk, and bands that immediately followed, such as the Sex Pistols, made the latent violence of the music more explicit, but the Ramones crystallized...
