Essential Gabriel

While best known for the hit SHOCK THE MONKEY, tracks I HAVE THE TOUCH and KISS OF LIFE are easily 2 of the best in Gabriel's entire catalog. Very addictive.

no security...

For reasons uncertain, iTunes has reveiwed Peter's first release ("Peter Gabriel" with the cover-picture of him looking up through a rainy windshield), not "Security." I don't think Peter has put out a bad album and this one is no exception. Each of his albums have their own standouts, but I particularly like the opening track, "Rhythm of the Heat," as it demonstrates how he often begins with a rhythm track and builds around it. The ending of that song, with his sustained cry accompanied by the increased tempo of the percussion, is one of those goose-bump moments in music. Not to imply that the rest of the album isn't up to par. There's not a bad track in the bunch. ("Wallflower," by the way, was used as an instrumental track on his sountrack to the film "Birdy," which is itself a wonderful set of moody songs.)

The Best

I dont care how many hits peter gabriel has that play on an endless loop on the classic rock staions, or that shock the monkey is one of them. I do care that this album get the recognition it deserves. These songs(especialy "lay your hands on me" and "wallflower") made such a lasting impression on me. I am only 22 and I love these songs so much more than the mindless drivel that is constantly spewed from the "top 40" bands or whatever they are called. Peter Gabriel is an amazing artist.
