Album Review
Another 11 tracks of blistering demonic screamy hardcore, wilting the leaves off the trees and turning the earth sour. Converge can break multiple bones throughout the body with sound alone, assaulting with beautiful metal riffs, throat-ripping screams, and aggressive smashing percussion. The first track on the album, "The Saddest Day," is one of the band's most revered and legendary songs, alone making Petitioning the Empty Sky a must-have for any fan of this genre.

The punk metal act Converge were formed in the winter of 1990-1991, and after several singles, compilation appearances, and the requisite growing pains, they released their first full-length effort, Halo in a Haystack, in 1994.
