Picture Perfect

Melanie hit a “brand new key” and roller skated away from her image with an album that got lost when originally released in 1976. The studio musicians for the album became the hit group “Toto” after this LP. Melanie’s songwriting is as strong as ever, she comforts herself with the love ballad “If I Needed You”; visits gospel with “Secret Of The Darkness”; a jazz beauty “I’m So Blue” and lets us inside her heart and soul with “Groundhog Day”; “Save Me”; “Raindance” and “Friends & Company”. This re-release gives us the tunes from the vault the would probably have been the follow up LP and are Melanie that everyone will enjoy from Phil Och’s “Miranda” to her own “Whamp Bhomp Song”. If you’ve never heard Melanie before you should and if you have you really should check out this picture perfect release!

2nd best Melanie album (see Ballroom Streets)

"Raindance" is probably Melanie's best song. Even if you are foolish enough not to download all of this right now--grab "Raindance" immediately. "Cyclone" includes "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)", "The Letter" is an awesome Box Tops (Alex Chilton) cover. The best version of "Nickel Song is on here. Every other song is worth owning. If you like Melanie at all there is nothing that you won't like. I only wish iTunes had a complete version of "Ballroom Streets" or anything from "Stoneground Words". If you like this check out "Gather Me" which includes her biggest hit "Brand New Key" as well as indispensible tracks like "Railroad" and "Some Say I Got Devil".

Finally songs that haven't been reworked then reworked again.

As close to the original sounds of Melanie as you'll find.
