Album Review

The 2003 release on Powerless Pop by Chicago alternative country/folk-pop singer/songwriter Chris Mills, Plays and Sings/Nobody's Favorite combines two of his earliest releases. Plays and Sings was Mills' debut, a 7" single released in 1995 by Sugar Free containing two songs: "Nowhere Town" and "Steel Walls and Iron Bars." Nobody's Favorite was also released in 1995 by Sugar Free. It is a seven-track EP that features another version of "Nowhere Town" and the despairing "Keep the Corpse Beautiful." Powerless Pop has done a big favor to Chris Mills fans by making both of these impossible-to-find releases available again.

Powerful acoustics and voice and lyrics

This album is a wonderful collection of songs Mills crafted from the 90's on, playing mostly solo in every dark fun corner of Chicago.

Slow burn that you can't get enough of.

You'll eventually be playing this album at least once a week. It's simple, honest and sincere. Great lyrics and road trip worthy — you don't even need a car to feel like you're traveling down some lonely midwest highway. My only complaint would be the desire for a full length album like this. Buy this without hesitation.
