Album Review

For Sick Puppies’ Polar Opposite EP, the Australian alt-metal three-piece reworks former songs from its Tri-Polar album (with the exception of "All the Same" from Dressed Up as Life) to turn them into soft acoustic numbers. They have done stripped-down re-recordings before, on Live and Unplugged, but this time the band brings production into play, adding orchestral flair and using the studio to smooth out any rough edges. Since the heavier recordings of these songs were pretty glossy to begin with, these variations aren’t quite polar opposites, and as slower versions they lack oomph. At best, die-hard fans might appreciate the chance to hear a new take on the material.

POLAR OPPOSITE

SICK PUPPIES never fail to amaze me. "Odd One" is the only song that describes me. I love SP and always will, I'll never stop supporting them. You're amazing!!!! Buy this album, you won't regret it. Best band EVER!

Amazing Acoustic Album

I loved the original versions of each of these songs, but the acoustic versions are just as good if not better. The only disappointing part was that So What I Lied was missing.

Amazing!!!!

This album is amazing! Most Acoustic songs are pretty bland but Sick Puppies have out done themeselves on this acoustic album. I reccommend this album. And I give it a 10!!! :)

When they met in 1997, singer/lead guitarist Shimon Moore and bassist Emma Anzai were both fans of Silverchair and the Living End plus many of the other angst rock/punk rock bands from their native Australia. Soon Chris Mileski joined on drums and a series of live gigs led to some local recognition and the 1999 EP Dog's Breakfast. Two years...
