Unique Sound Coming Together

What a difference one album makes! The first album, Lux Noctis, had some excellent moments, but mostly the band hadn't figured out how to bring together the two female lead singers, and the guitar and keyboards sometimes seemed like they didn't know the other one was in the band. Here, it all unites skillfully and powerfully. Carmen Schaefer and Ada Flechtner, the double female lead vocals, combine their strength and still maintain their distinctiveness. I especially like Jo Lang's buzzsaw guitar tone, which could easily overpower the band, but he wields it brilliantly and gives it the feeling of a hotrod with the gas pedal perpetually floored around tight turns, but somehow always under control. Fabian Merkt on keyboards adds a swirling atmospheric maelstrom as well as tight leads alongside Lang. The songs are better crafted, and the band reaches out emotionally and creatively. I give it four instead of five stars only because they still have some unrealized potential, but they are already one of the best symphonic/goth metal bands going, with a unique sound that breaks them from the ever-growing pack of female fronted metal bands.

Better Than The First

I have to say that this album is better than the first because this album have better songs. The vocals are better on this album. The best songs on this album are Fallen, In Silence, Beauty In Black, Cast My Spell, Exitus and In Your Hands. I love this band and their wonderful vocals.

A Metal Opera Sound

This album is better then their 1st, but they still have a ways to go. Don't get me wrong, some of the songs on this album are great, and you can see impovement from their 1st album. It's not quite at the awesomeness I think they could reach, but if you are a fan of metal, opera singing, then the entire album is worth it. But if not, check out the songs In Silence, Der Vierte Reiter and Cast My Spell.
