Album Review

Coming up screaming from the depths of Florida — there being no scarier state in the union — Marilyn Manson cannily positioned themselves as a goth-industrial hybrid on their debut album, Portrait of an American Family. At this stage in their evolution, Marilyn Manson was clearly a band, not just the project of Brian Warner, aka Mr. Manson, who would later simply adopt his band's name as his own. Also, horror-show schlock was a bigger factor than it would be later on, when he wanted to be the Antichrist Superstar for the world at large. In other words, it's Manson at his silliest, singing about "My Monkey" and "Snake Eyes and Sissies." Nevertheless, beneath all the camp shock there are signs of Warner's unerring eye for genuine outrage and musical talent, particularly on the trio of "Cake and S****y," "Lunchbox," and "Dope Hat."

Partial Album? >:(

iTunes you get the best MM album ,that you cant find at a record store and you put it on partial album Im deeply dissapointed in you.

Very good start for Manson

This album is a very good album and very sharp. His best songs from this album are "Lunchbox" and "Get Your Gunn", which both of them turn up in his "Lest We Forget - The Best of Marilyn Manson" album. The odd thing about this is that this album is supposed to have 13 songs, not just the 12 that show up in the iTunes store. Very strange. The name of the missing song is "Misery Machine."

Why You Shouldn't Download This Album From iTunes:

I'm gonna start this review with the Buy The Album At Best Buy Guide: Reasons To Get The Album From A Store Like Best Buy: *This Album is listed as a Partial Album, which means you have to download all the tracks individually for a total of $11.88. Usually an album on iTunes is $7.99- $9.99, It seems better than $13.99 at Best Buy but It could save time *Misery Machine is NON INCLUDED: Misery Machine is a very awesome song on the album but is not included. you can get the song on Get Your Gunn, but it will not include the quote "Go home and tell your mother, doesn't she watch you, go and tell her, I hate her, tell your mother, I hate you." and a fake message machine at the end. *If you're obsessed with Manson in general, you'll love the wierd artwork in the booklet. Album Review: Great Album: Wierd, Awesome, Hard, and a little Dark too. If you're new to manson: Listen To This Album Before You Do Anything Else, No Matter What You Do!!!

Love him or hate him, the self-proclaimed "Antichrist Superstar" — Marilyn Manson — was indisputably among the most notorious and controversial entertainers of the 1990s. Celebrated by supporters as a crusader for free speech and denounced by detractors as little more than a poor man's Alice Cooper, Manson was the latest in a long line of shock rockers, rising to the top of the charts on a platform of sex, drugs, and Satanism. Though widely dismissed by critics, his brand of metal nevertheless...
