Customer Reviews

Lame (But not because of the music!)

Youth Brigade was among the greatest of the '80s American punk bands, and this first release shows them at their most raw and eager stage. Full Speed Ahead became virtually an anthem for punks across the country, and No Song influenced many a punk songster-to-be. This EP is a fantastic example of what american punk once was and still aught to be. Sadly, the tracks on this iTunes release are clipped at the end!: Five of the tracks end before the actual tracks on the EP do. (I have the original EP, and have directly compared them.) I feel gypped out of my time and money on this one... So, a one-star review, but for the clipped files not the music!

This is Washington D.C. NOT California

A friend of mine actually thought that Youth Brigade moved from DC to CA and switched labels. Just for your own info, this is a completely different band with the exact same name. Just look at the cover of the e.p. and you can see they're from DC. Credit should be given to YB(DC) because they had it first (not like you can expect people on the other side of the country to know about them back then). Personally, I much prefer DC hardcore over over SoCal punk so this gets a full five stars from me while YB(CA) gets a more modest three/three and one-half. Great e.p. Buy it direct from Dischord. It costs the same and you don't fuel the greed-machine.

Classic Hardcore.

This is a Classic Hardcore E.P. Once it starts it's no turning back. The bassist is very good especially on their intros. Essential Classic Hardcore especially at $4.49.
