Infectious!

Dear Prabir and the Substitutes -- Having had the pleasure of seeing you perform live, I have to say that listening to the music via my iPod is still a lot of fun. My personal favorite is Brian Wilson, I Love You! But all the songs on this EP are a lot of fun and infectious -- in the finger-snapping, ear-virus way, not the needing-an-antibiotic way. For those of you new to Prabir and the Substitutes, take a chance on this EP and be prepared to smile when the songs come up on your shuffle. Heck. You might even want to make a special playlist! Excellent Art

A very crisp and even sound, this band is tight and must be excellent to see live. I can imagine from the songs that they are having lots of fun. This is the high energy music and creative work that our souls beg for from sea to shining sea. I particularly like the Ghost song, I wish I could make that Ghost happier, but it makes me feel great to be a non-ghost. I have listened to some of these songs several times, and each time I hear a song I hear something different, so I think the sound is pretty deep. Nice album art too - as much as I like to be able to download, it would be nice to be able to get this on LP. Congratulations to these poor crazy kids on an excellent release of music and energy.

cavern club worthy

the beloved rock of the 60's makes a comeback. i fell in love with this EP and had the pleasure of seeing prabir and the substitutes perform in carytown. any fan of the beatles, zombies, dylan, kinks, etc. will enjoy this magnificent music.

Prabir & the Substitutes hailed from Richmond, VA, where frontman Prabir Mehta first assembled his vocally driven pop/rock group in late 2005. Joined by local musicians Chris Smith (guitar), Adam Thompson (bass), and ex-Poprocket percussionist Shawn Lynch, Mehta drew upon the harmony-rich acts of the '60s — including the Beach Boys, the Hollies, and the Zombies — to shape the sound of the Substitutes' eponymous debut EP.
