Powerful Nostalgia

I don't know what's delaying the cd and digital release of the record that this single is from, but someone at jagjaguwar is doing the public a great disservice. "The President is Dead" is easily one of the best songs recorded in 2006, a powerful blend of nostalgia and indictment about a presidential assassination. The lilting acoustic guitar and witty lyrics come at a frenzied pace as if the storyteller can't express the sentiment either emphatically enough or because it's entirely rehearsed, and the climax of the track will blow you away. Check it out, and watch for the new release of the album this is from hopefully soon.

Black Sheep Boy Revisited

Okkervil River is looking to repeat 2005's masterpiece "Black Sheep Boy" if they keep up the releasing of songs like these, and the others on the "Overboard & Down [Australian Tour EP]". A wonderful and beautiful song about a realistic account of a young man's whereabouts when the president was assasinated and how it actually would be.

THE PRESIDENT'S DEAD!!!

This song is absolutely amazing. Not the meaning you'd expect. Beautiully done. I can't wait for the new album later this year!
