Worth the Wait

Amazing! One of the best bands you've never heard of and one of the best live acts I have EVER seen... It's a mix of dirty New York punk, rock and metal with a subtle blues and surf coating. Download this NOW!

My Goodness God the Giraffes Are Back!

You know what's better than listening to The Giraffes? Answer: Listening to them live on stage, of course! These fellas put a on bigger and better show than a few WWE matches, cirque de soleil and a dozen hard, crunchy rock bands. Do yourself a favor and pick up this quick. It's pure God through the entire thing. Also pick up their other records such as their self title and pray that their awesomness comes through your town. See them! One of the greatest bands I have seen grace a stage.

BAM!

While this album doesn't have the immediacy of their self-titled, Prime Motivator grows and grows and grows until it infects your brain with it's catchy hooks and shredding guitar. After such a strong LP debut, The Giraffes could have just hung in the same vein that they masterfully crafted for their self-titled. But they didn't and frankly, it ups the ante in a big way. The boys let themselves loosen up a little and delved into (dare I say) ballad territory. I.e, "Medicaid Benefit Applique", "Louis Guthrie". Those songs are so effin good it hurts. Props to the Giraffes for breaking new ground without sounding like they ordered choruses and riffs from a mailorder. "Smoke Machines", "The Power of Fatherhood", and "Prime Motivator" bring the rock sauce poured liberally over a meaty surf steak. This album is worth every penny (Don't be fooled by poorly edited samples!). Once downloaded and absorbed, go check them out live. One of the last and best rock acts ever to grace a beer soaked stage.

Biography

Years Active: '00s

Formed in the late '90s by guitar player Damien Paris and drummer Andrew Totolos, unapologetically loud rock quartet the Giraffes combine the power of the Melvins and Corrosion of Conformity with the hedonistic attitude of Black Flag and the Circle Jerks. Bass player John Rosenthal and vocalist Aaron Lazar joined in 2002, recording two self-produced albums (Helping You Help Yourself and A Gentleman Never Tells) in the band's home studio, which was conveniently...
