I'd totally marry Prince, and I'm a dude

With his sophomore release, Prince really started to show off some his incredibly prodigious talent. There is a bit of an edge to a lot of his younger stuff which is missing from his later work that I really admire. As usual, he is the sole instrumentalist on the album, but where he really shines is on the guitar, of course. He absolutely shreds on "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?", which may be my favorite Prince song, and of course there is the famous "I Wanna Be Your Lover." I've got this baby on vinyl, and it's one of my prized possessions. A must own for any Prince fan.

The CD that CHANGED my life!

This is a MUST have for hard core fans!! The second coming of a Prince!! I recieved this LP for Christmas in 1979 and I carried the LP cover around with me at school! LMAO! I knew that Prince would be huge back in 1978 with his first LP For You and by 1979 I was just entering my teen years and I fell HARD for Prince I recently went to my 25 yr class reunion and was reminded of how bad I had it for the man! LOL! Before Prince for me being a black youth of the 70's and 80's It was Jimi Hendrix! I am extremely fond of this CD because it had it all!! Rock Funk Slow Jams. He could do it all (EXTREMELY RARE FOR 1979!). And he could blow ANYONE away onstage!! NO ONE CAN PUT ON A SHOW LIKE PRINCE! For me the SEAL deal with this CD is that when it came out in 1979 Prince performed on Dick Clark's American Bandstand and While he was playing his second song Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad, he dropped his guitar and my stomach sank!! Dez Dickerson ended up playing both solos at the end of the song! It was bad enough that the interview with Dick Clark went poorly.... but to drop your guitar? OUCH! To this day I still havent seen a rerun of that episode I have only seen the uncomfortable interview with Dick Clark.... I have a Challenge for other early yr prince fans who else remembers this performance?? OH and what about his surprise performance on Saturday Night Live in 1980?? Any Takers???

The Artist

There is no bigger influence in music for me than, Prince. Being a Minnesota native, from the St Paul/Minneapolis area, Prince is by far a great everything when it comes to music! The self titled album is a great, great ,great ,great album. He never ceases to amaze me at what ever he does!

Few artists have created a body of work as rich and varied as Prince. Not only did he release a series of groundbreaking albums; he toured frequently, produced albums and wrote songs for many other artists, and recorded hundreds of songs that still lie unreleased in his vaults.
