Amazingness
Every song on this album is just godly. The songs are heavy as hell and every word is sung with pure emotion and talent!
Watching the Night Sky is a little too mainstream for me, it's a great song but it's the bare essentials. (No extra work, still get it)
Madness and Sorrow is my favorite song on the album. Very awesome begining riff that leads into fast, driving verses and one of the best guitar solos ever.
1633 starts off cool with a bass solo and turns into a grindy, mid-tempo song. I'm liking the guitar work here.
God of Speed is also one of my favorites, slow begining seems oxy-moronic but the song speeds up at the end and is a great listen!
City of Bones is EPIC!!!!! the drum roll at the start leads to a great wind-up then everything is let loose.
Faceless is another simple head banger. REEAAAAALLY good song here.
Time to Dare is good, but it seems a little dull in the middle of these amazing songs. It's a good song, just not as good.
Surrounded by sadness is a truly sad song. For the most part it is acoustic, but then it gets loud. To buy this you're going to want to get the next song with it. (They're connected)
TTOTTHNW is a LONG title where those words are never said. it runs in the same lines of Surrounded by Sadness, only it's all heavy and fast. Really great lyrics, too. The end of this song is also the beginning of the next.
Letting Go of the world makes me scratch my head. It's a really good song but in the midst of really good and inspiring lyrics Bayley snarles "Fight, Kill, F*ck, Eat" kinda strange since the band has not had a profane song since Blood & Belief.
Comfortable in Darkness is very creepy. I like it, however it is my least favorite song on the album. I think mainly because the end is so sudden. Nico is in the middle of a chord progression then everything just stops. Still really good, though.
So yeah, this album made me think that God himself was recording it. It's a treasure to have for sure!
This is a stunningly good record.
Since leaving Iron Maiden in 1999, Blaze has released five studio albums. The first two are his best. The third is a mixed bag: half the songs are amazing, half are throwaways. The fourth and this new one, Promise and Terror, they’re his best, too.
Actually, these last two albums, The Man Who Would Not Die and Promise and Terror are very similar. They’re heavy in less an Iron Maiden kind of way and more of a Megadeth kind of way. And the emotion! Blaze is a fellow who can sing sadness and bewilderment with conviction, and no wonder: in 2008, his wife of four months died of a cerebral hemorrhage. So when he sings, “Why must I face this life / Why am I here alone / Where did the future go / Why am I here alone?” his voice reaches right through my earbuds and yanks on my heart strings.
If you’re into metal of any type, get this album. Hell, if you listen to any music played by real humans and not a DAT machine, get this album.
Just get it
Like the title says, just get it. It's even better than the man who would not die! Since Blaze changed its members around, it has become even better than before and this time, the album is spectacular! Personally my favorites are MAdness and Sorrow, Faceless, and God of Speed. This doesn't mean that the rest of the songs are bad or bland, it just means those 3 songs are epically good!
Just buy the album, if you're still reading this review and haven't bought it yet, you are wasting precious head banging time! =)
