I think for first time AmAnSet buyers, this isnt the best album. (Although, I consider 'come home baby julie...' one of the best songs) I think Set Free is a more approachable album, a free demo version is available from the AmAnSet website. So maybe take a listen to that, and then make your purchasing decision. (note: the demo version is very raw, acoustic versions of the songs, hence demo). Either way, this is still a great purchase for fans of American Analog Set. I would recommend it to anyone. If you buy one song, make sure its come home baby julie come home. Its ironic someone with the name 'dance party' not enjoy repetitive music. Its all about taste, the music is 'repetitive' but I see it more as rhythmic and layered, its part of their style and not unique to this album, but rather their 'sound'.
Simply Complex - This album rocks!
I am usually not the biggest fan of low-fi music, but this album has layers of complexity that I have rarely heard before. Awesome melodies, driving rhythms and colorful ambience. After getting this, it did not leave my cd player for 2 months!! BUY THIS ALBUM! I recommend this album as a great starter for those interested in AMANSET. You will also be supporting local music.
everything the amanset does is 5 stars of course
this is the perfect sequel to know by heart and the amanset just keeps getting better. the first album of their's i heard was know by heart and i fell in love instantly. after hearing promise of love i was even more enamored. then i found the golden band and all their previous works, and then set free came out and im gushing, but they are my favorite band of all time. honestly, buy this and everything else they've ever made. on vinyl.
