Now at the mic.. Heather Waters

I found Heather thru MySpace, and quickly fell in love with some great alternative country that her first solo CD Shadow of You had in it. By some weird karma I ended up with a chance to host Heather in a host concert. I could tell by her blogs, she is one passionate woman, with the skill of speaking her mind. Well I found out that she can wail her voice too. Wow. She came when Propellor was just released, so many of the songs were fresh. Now after over 200 total song plays, I’m convinced this is one of the best cd’s of this year or at least in the top 25 EVER. It starts with a mournful blues song about Diane; who the people near Boston will hear the references. Wait for Me, a little rocker written for Heather’s grandma as a plea to live until they can be together again. Diamond in your Mind is really a hit on this cd, though I’m still trying to thoroughly understand it. Say You Love Me, a classic flip-off song. Stone & Concrete is a tip of the hat to the world of Hollywood. Joy Comes Back to Me has that old blues gospel feel. Wherever You Go is another rocker that Heather shows off those great vocal skills. Jukebox was co-written by Adam Levy and, Heather’s version has that classic smoky bar feel and it’s time to close it up. I completely love the 2nd verse to this song. Six ways to Sunday is one that will have you swaying slowly in you chair. Castaway is another showcase for Heather… the slow pulsating beat makes make want to be castaway to an island with her, or at least her cd. The instrumentation is less Nashville than “Shadow” and never gets stale, but it’s familiar enough that you’ll find yourself back listening to the vocal instrument that Heather brings to the CD.
