So far, better than most albums of 2009
Dead Prez is an eloquent, relevant and innovative group. As Pulse of the People shows, they're also not shy about bringing in new influences and trying fresh approaches. This 'mixtape' is better than most of the 'albums' I've snagged this year. It's almost unfair to judge DP in the same context as other hip-hop outfits. That being said, not every song on here is a classic. However, these songs are well-written, have excellent production, and bring a sincere message about independence, self-discipline, and becoming a better, more capable person. I can't wait for the Information Age!
I've been listening to dead prez for a minute now...
...and this is the best work they put out since "Let's Get Free". The duo of M-1 and stic.man are a breath of fresh air in an uncreative and uninspired hip hop community. The combo with mixtape Juggernaut DJ Green Lantern is what the hip hop world needs. If you combined NWA and Public Enemy, then let Jam Master J and Swizz Beats arrange the album, you'd have Pulse Of The People. Peace.
Wow.
I have recently been getting away from rap music, but this album is absolutely phenomenal. It's songs like Warpath, Don't Hate My Grind, and NYPD that keep bringing me back. This album is loaded with tons of sick beats! I give Pulse Of The People five stars and it deserves every one of them.
