wth
gym class heroes should NOT be doing rhcp
Actually....I'm impressed
First off, let me clarify something, and this applies to ALL of the punk goes...series: The title SHOULD NOT determine how much you like the music. So what if these bands are not punk whatsoever. It was probably the record company's fault, or whoever is behind this whole deal. This shouldn't affect the actual music. Disregard the title! Anyway, I expected to be thoroughly let down by these bands covering such wonderful songs. And although some of these songs aren't up to par, a lot of them pull through. Cartel's cover of Wonderwall is similar to the original, but not entirely-there's a few twists that make it interesting. I like it. And although Bedlight For Blue Eyes' cover of Jumper hasn't seemed to have gotten much acclaim, i find it one of the best on the album, perhaps because it adds a lot of uniqueness to the song, in my opinion. Overall, if you want to skip the mediocre covers and go straight to the best of the best, i would buy Jumper, Wonderwall, and Under the Bridge. Many others are very good, but try too hard to sound exactly the same except with different instruments. 90's alternative fans-give it a listen, you might be surprised!
Are some of these bands even Punk?
Okay this is pretty bad (with the exception of a few) First. Some of these bands aren't punk or close to I mean Plain White T's? Gym Class Heroes? I see posbily 3 or 4 bands with some punk in them at the most. Second. Most of the covers aren't even that good I mean why would they even attemept to do some of these bands like Nirvana or the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Third. Most of the orginals were way more punk than these guys. Seriouly this is just for Holister loving brats who think that stupid pop bands that appear on the radio are punk just because they say so. I'm sorry but just because iTunes says it's alternative doesn't mean that its punk or even alt-rock. But I must say the orginal are very good and Scary Kids Scraing Kids cover of Losing My Religion by R.E.M. is pretty good.
