Impressive
I'm very very satisfied with the newest Punk Goes... Compilation. They did a great job with which bands were selected. All of the bands hit the spot on each song. Many of these covers surpass the originals. What Goes Around... (9/10) - This song is a great intro for the album, the vocalist is an amazing screamer. Nice. Apologize (9/10) - Wish more screaming, but Silverstein did great on this cover. It's a really good song. ...Baby One More Time (8/10) - It's good, but I wish another band would of done this song, it just feels like there could be singing in it, like it's missing something. When I Grow Up (9/10) - Mayday Parade is amazing and they did not fail on making this song great! Over My Head (10/10) - Best song on here. A Day To Remember is an amazing band, they did perfect. Check out their Albums. Smooth (8/10) - Good Song. Come on Craig, more screaming? I remember you being in blessthefall as a beast! Ice Box (8/10) - Pretty good, concidering I have never heard of this band before, they did a good job. Flagpole Sitta (7.5/10) - The only good part of this song is when Craig's amazing scream gets in there!! Beautiful Girls (9/10) - I was impressed with this one, definantly better than Sean Kingston. See You Again (8/10) - Funny doing a Miley Cyrus cover, this Colorado band has done justice to this song. Disturbia (10/10) - Another favorite, The Cab is one of my favorite bands and they pulled this cover off well. Toxic (9.5/10) - This is what I ment with ...Baby One More Time, they hit this song right on the dot and it's amazing. Love Song (7.5/10) - It's okay, nothing too special, but it's okay. I Kissed A Girl (7.5/10) - Better than the original, that's all I can say. For sure check this Album out, it's a great cd.
punk?
Should be renamed "Post-Hardcore Goes Pop", these albums are getting less and less punk. Still, it's fun and enjoyable...buy it.
My Gosh. These Songs Are ACTUALLY Done Well!
Honestly, I love this CD. "Apologize", the original version of which I actually didn't mind, is made better when sung by Silverstein. While there are better covers of "...Baby One More Time", August Burns Red gave it an interesting twist, to say the least. Mayday Parade ACTUALLY was able to make me listen to "When I Grow Up" without my ears bleeding. That song is EASILY one of the worst I've ever heard, but Mayday Parade makes it great. "Over My Head" was also done well. "See You Again" is probably one of my favorite songs on here, although NOT because of the song itself. It's just Breathe Carolina actually makes it a decent song. The Cab makes "Disturbia", which is, in my opinion, a good song to begin with, different and just as beautiful as the original. "Toxic" made me laugh. Not in a bad way, though. I just that A Static Lullaby made it so different that it took me by surprise. I liked Four Year Strong's version of "Love Song" as well, although I prefer the original. But Attack Attack's version of "I Kissed a Girl" is the highlight, because they were able to make an obnoxious song into a fun, dancy song. Seriously, folks, buy this. It's a great CD, and you won't regret having it.
