people need to know about this chick....
she's absolutely amazing live and this SHOULD be featured on iTunes' front page instead of someone having to look for this. She's a breath of fresh air along with Amy Winehouse, Lauryn Hill (where are you???), and Erykah Badu. She combines intelligent lyrics and unpretentiousness with good,solid arrangements. I'm not surprised I'm the only one that is writing a review on her, but I had better not be the last. Incredible and long-anticipated debut. Standout tracks: "U Do It For Me", "What Happened?", "Run and Hide", and "Simple Complication". BUY THIS ALBUM and help REAL artists get the attention they deserve for once!
Anybody up for some GOOD MUSIC!?!?
Algebra is just that. The girl can sang!! period. Being a love of good music I couldnt pass up an opportunity to support and artist who is talking about things I can actually relate to and not selling out on some commercial crap. Inline with Gaelle, Lauryn, Goapele, Amel Larrieux... you know that stuff you can turn on and just FEEL GOOOOOD... have you cleaning up the whole house, speakers on blast as if everything in the world outside is aiight. My favorites: Happy After, What Happened? and Come Back among others. Stay on it Ms. Algebra!! You doin' it!! God Bless ---Yak
Give Algebra a Try
It’s about time! I felt compelled to write this review because this album is truly a pleasure to listen to. With its breezy tracks and Algebra’s easy flow, it’s unfortunate that she has not received the publicity needed to really stand out. This is the only album since Ledisi’s that I can listen to straight through without skipping. Algebra’s Purpose shows me that some artists (and labels) still care to preserve this genre and fill it with quality vocals and meaningful lyrics.
