Customer Reviews
Rock On.
This album blew me away. I was heavily disappointed when the original release date was delayed... but it was worth it. My advice? (No offese to iTunes) but I bought the CD with full quality and no DRM. It also included a DVD with acoustic recordings of all the songs from their previous CD and a documentary of the new CD exclusivley at Best Buy for ONLY 9.99. Why buy the DRM download when you can have the real deal AND MORE?
One Of The Best Rock Albums Of 2007...
Evans Blue is a band that does not dissapoint...fans of their first album will appreciate the maturity of this new record...The band has really grown as a whole since their debut last year...I would comment on which songs are the best to choose from, but the truth is this album is great as a whole...Each song makes the next one that much better...I definitely recommend...This is true music...and this is one of the best albums of 2007...period...The Pursuit has begun...
great band, great album
great album, haunting melodies, great music. overall review: the album starts out with a boom, with the song "In a Red Dress and Alone." with lyrics beginning the album 'lets start it over, from the beginning' shows a turning point in the band. included in the song is some great guitaring. "Shine Your Cadillac" is the second song, with an industrial feel and a great ending by the drums. "Q" is the third song, which is another great song. "Kiss The Flag" is a song about the iraq war. the difference between this song about the iraqi war and every other song about the war is how they are just telling about the emotions, they aren't for or against it. "My Damsel" and "Pin-Up" are the next 2 songs, and they feel completely opposite. "My Damsel" begins with a scream, "Pin-Up" begins with a soft melody, and that's just one difference. "Caught a Lite Sneeze", track 7, is actually a cover of the Tori Amos song "Caught a Lite Sneeze". This is perhaps the song with the most varied lyrics, from outright stupid to the incredibly drawing "caught a lite sneeze, dreamed a little dream, i made my own, pretty hate machine." if anyone has heard the Tori Amos real song, they know this is a million times better. "Fear" is another passionate song, and probably one of the 2 closest songs to their old album (Fear and In a Red Dress and Alone). lyrics are absolutely luring, makes continuing listens a must. "Dear Lucid" is a great song, with some great guitar riffs and whisper-scream mixes that make the song so great. track ten is their 9:19 song "Painted", my favorite song on the album. Starting with the main part of the song, lyrics immediately draw you in. after about a 3 minute break, the guitar comes out to a solo that is not matched by any band of this type in the past 30 years. the ending includes some sort of chanting, tribal mix. The final song is the single and title track of the album. "The Pursuit" is a very deep song, and before your 100th listen, you still might not get the complexity of this song. and with the ending of this cd its very long name, they surely end on a bang. the album goes from whispers to screaming, heavy guitars to soft melodies, incredible solos, tribal chants, and the lyrics that connect with the listener more then any band out there. surely one of the best albums of the decade, not just this year.
