Customer Reviews

Nothing to fear and nothing to doubt.

Even though Amnesiac was considered a dud album by some, the b-sides from its singles are undeniably (and universally considered to be) some of their best work. Of course, Pyramid Song itself is worth the cost of the entire EP, but the b-sides are simply amazing.

The spectacular piano-based Pyramid Song sets the scene of the single, then the other tracks bend it beyond recognition. The otherworldly beats of Amazing Sounds are eerie and chilling, and segway into the rocking first half of Trans-Atlantic Drawl. Then the EP takes a darker turn. The guitar riffs of Drawl subside into a sparse, melodramatic soundscape that only Radiohead can produce. Finally, Kinetic finishes off the experience with a slow, harmonious rythym that captures the feeling of looking at a kinetic sculpture.

All in all, Pyramid Song CD 1 really shows how dark and intriguing a band's supporting songs can be, and is well worth the price. If you like ANYTHING from the Kid A / Amnesiac era, this EP is a must.
