People Under the Stairs' Thes One and Double K have not succumbed to a "sophomore jinx" with their second album, Question in the Form of an Answer. In fact, they've created a very solid hip-hop album from top to bottom; the rhymes are creative and the beats are very on point. Refusing to use any keyboards (a rarity in the modern hip-hop era), the duo construct their music completely from the funky records they dig up; Pete Rock would love these guys and their pure hip-hop aesthetic. He'd probably also have loved the fact that the album has over 20 solid tracks, but People Under the Stairs could have used a good A&R rep here to cut out a few of the lesser tracks and up the ante on the more solid ones, making them even more banging. But overall, People Under the Stairs really establishes a solid record with this release.

It's just completely retarded that the People haven't been getting the credit they deserve. "People Under the Stairs", composed of Double K and Thes One (the LA duo), are completely amazing. They sound more natural than Mos and Kweli on Black Star. They write their own rhymes and make their own beats and they truly have their own sound. They don't play the same stupid crap you hear on the radio all the time. This is hip hop in it's purest form. They put out the music you can vibe and bob your head to. This paticular album is constant rotation on my iPod and it's high quality hip hop the whole way through. Do not pass them up!!
This album and all others by PUTS are the real.
I met Double K and Thes One at the Cats Cradle in Carrsboro, NC and they got that joint poppin like no other. Double K and Thes One are the most real individuals I have ever met and make the freshest and most natural music that I have ever heard. I know they will keep on keepin it real. Bless Up Peeps!
