iTunes Review

Coming after the synth and mechanical lifts of Turbo, Ram It Down was Judas Priest's re-entrance into the straight heavy metal market. While it lacks the epic quality of their finest works — Sad Wings of Destiny, Stained Class, Screaming for Vengeance, Defenders of the Faith — it has enough powerful tunes to push it over the heavy-metal hill. The title track features the trademark attack with Halford shrieking and delivering the knockout blow while the guitarists twirl away with solos that have defined metal for two decades. “Come and Get It,” “Hard As Iron” and “Blood Red Skies” are obvious highlights, delivering the speed, force and drama of their best work, with the music subtly acknowledging the thrash crowd who were bringing the music to crazier heights.  The cover of Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode” is an unusual choice, and the point is made just as clearly with “I’m a Rocker” and “Monsters of Rock,” that this is a band committed to their cause. This re-mastered edition includes live versions of “Night Comes Down” and the timeless “Bloodstone.”

Judas Priest Are Metal GODS (with Rob Halford)

I have a hard time choosing a favorite Priest Album. Sad Wings of Destiny to Painkiller, No Bad Music at all. Ram It Down Isn't my favorite but it did come out the the year I graduated High School. It's surely a Par Priest Album.

Good but not as good as Painkiller

This is one of my favorite Judas Priest albums and has a great selection of pounding songs but just does not compare to the performance of the mighty Painkiller. Best songs Ram It Down, Hard As Iron, Blood Red Skies, and Johnny B. Goode. I recommend this album to thrash fans.

A Vastly Underrated Classic

Every song on this album is such a joy to listen to; it's enjoyable and fun from beginning to end, plain and simple. Those looking for a fun time with JP should definitely buy this underrated classic.

Judas Priest was one of the most influential heavy metal bands of the '70s, spearheading the New Wave of British Heavy Metal late in the decade. Decked out in leather and chains, the band fused the gothic doom of Black Sabbath with the riffs and speed of Led Zeppelin, as well as adding a vicious two-lead guitar attack; in doing so, they set the pace for much popular heavy metal from 1975 until 1985, as well as laying the groundwork for the speed and death metal of the '80s.
