Nice Light Psych/Prog from 69/70

     

Just stumbled upon these guys and their label, Psych of the South, completely by accident. I read a short bio on them at the site and it reads like a word of caution to young bands. Apparently the guitarist's wealthy banker father managed to buy out their contract from an RCA label subsidiary thereby derailing their career. What a real shame. The music is typical farfisa and fuzz from the day. But all the songs are well written with nice harmonies on many tracks and , while there's nothing here you haven't heard before, it's better than so many of the bands from that era. This disc really should be on the Sundazed label. It reminds me a bit of the Sundazed release by Afterglow. There are also a few proggy touches. Saltless Tears would easily fit on the first Rare Bird release, for instance. Give the samples a listen and see what you think. Oh, and try to ignore that amateurish photo while listening!!!
