New Take on Jazz Classics
This album is similar to the Verve Remixed series, only with a much better selection of tracks that were chosen to get remixed. I never thought I'd hear Charlie Parker with modern beats. It would help to have some background knowledge about the original recordings to really appreciate what has been changed. Some of the best jazz standards have been included, and I really liked how they've been modernized. It's a very chill CD, great stuff!
Old Good+New Good= Better
With the exception of one song(Shaw 'Nuff), this album just jams. My head just bobs the entire way through. With great classic jazz pieces, plus great beats backing them up...I have to recommend this to most anyone. You won't be disappointed.
This Is Fusion, This Is Jazz
This is Jazz for any generation looking for an evolving sound. This is fusion, this is jazz. Purist will hate this…I LOVE IT! For those not yet into the purists view of jazz this may be a nice way to ease into the genre. I also like this as an alternative to the purely electronic “lounge” sound.
