Re-Up Gang-Clipse Presents: Re-Up Gang
Having released We Got It 4 Cheap: Vol. 3, Clipse duo Malice and Pusha T are prepared to bring their official quartet of VA to PA, Re-Up Gang. Giving shine to their PA members, Sandman and Ab-Liva, they deliver their debut disc, Clipse Presents: Re-Up Gang. Re-Up Gang Intro: With revamped production, the gang spits their same lyrics off of We Got It 4 Cheap: Vol. 3 Intro, as Pusha T spits the winner "don't respect who your applaudin, little n**** flow but his metaphors borin', don't make me turn daddy's little girl to orphan, that would mean I'd have to kill little girl like abortion". 3.5/5 Million Dollar Corner: Decent production, as each member drops constant metaphors over horn heavy production. Decent track that is a little dull, pretty much each member spitting about moving that weight and gettin paid. Pusha spits "Stevie with the keys, is my ribbon in the sky."3/5 Street Money: Another decent production that is a little repetitive. The track is filler, a rehash of street money and hustling for it. 2.5/5 Fast Life: Lead single produced by Scott Storch whose string and keyboard combo works well. Each member is on top of their game, delivering a lyrical track with a nice party vibe. While the hook could be better, it isn't bad and the beat works well for a summer cut. 4/5 My Life's The S***: Definite banger here, as it hits hard and each member has some cold folds about their hustles. Street cut that shines due to its grittiness. 3.5/5 Bring It Back: Solid production with a repetitive keyboard loop, as each member speaks about staying where they are and continuing to be successful. The hook is a little weak, but Ab-Liva makes up for it with a worthy verse. 3.5/5 Emotionless: Another redone beat, as this track was the same one on the We Got It 4 Cheap: Vol. 3 mixtape. Excellent lyrics, as they get at their previous record label Jive with "guess I caught a brick, caught in the soundscan, the critical acclaim was that of a proud man, prepare for the worse that blood was on Jive's hands, see when the Fury dropped, so did 80,000 grams". 4/5 We Know: Redone beat, this was their freestyle on Shawty Lo's "Dey Know" beat, as Pusha goes with the cuban names and gettin that powder from the growers in Tiajuana. Each member spits about how they know they moving that white and that their getting "louie this, gucci that" along the way. 3.5/5 Money: DJ Entice drops some club ready production, as each member drops decent lyrics. The track has a nice beat to it, but the female voice repeating "money" is a bit annoying. Solid track that has decent lyrics. 3/5 Been Thru So Much: A reflective track about how much the crew's been through. Over rising strings, each member speaks on the grind and the struggle it took to reach their platform of moving the white and street rulers. Ab-Liva gets real deep on his message and it works with good effect. Malice finishes things with the hook and excellent verse about tricky friends and fake dealers. 3.5/5 Still Got It For Cheap: Piano laced beat, the gang reminds you their still moving the white and got it for cheap. Solid track that features nice production and a commanding hook. 3.5/5 Show You How To Hustle: Redid the beat, this is their freestyle over "Show You How To Hustle" by Pharrell. Nice beat here that is unique and breakneck. Pusha gets at Wayne on this "don't make me come to me and bury Wayne". 3.5/5 Zen: Maestro brings some interesting production that has some synth static and strings. Corny hook that recalls LL Cool J's "zzzzzzzazzzzazzzazaza" on "Control Myself". Decent track here. 3/5 Overall this album is pretty much an official mixtape to get shine for the Re-Up Gang. They actually redid a few tracks off of their previous mixtape with new beats, because the lyrics were so good. Lyrically the Clipse do their thing, as Sandman and Ab-Liva prove to be strong members. Metaphors are scattered throughout and the Clipse definitely are one of if not the best at coke talk. If your looking for some lyrical cats, look no further than this album, as they provide a solid official mixtape here of moving the white and also a new style, partying with "Fast Life". Solid album that should get the people's attention that the Clipse are lyrical guys, ready to blow up with Re-Up Gang. Rating: 7.5 out of 10
the clipse x whoever produced this album and scott storch = wackness
The Clipse is one of the top 5 greatest rap groups of all time in my opinion, but these beats are wack. They need to patch things up the neptunes quik
Same Verses, New Beats
I give only three stars because though the rhymes are as fresh as ever, half of them are on Vol. 3: The Spirit of Competition Mixtape, which is all around a better cd. Though the Re-Up Gang here is rapping over entirely new beats for this album, a lot of the beats on Vol.3 (most of which are from other artists) are honestly better suited for the verses. "We Know" is a prime exaple. It is word for word the same verses as their cover of "Dey Know Yayo" on Vol. 3, but is a worse track than the one of Vol. 3, as "Dey Know Yayo" has a better beat. I'd buy this album to support Clipse and Re-Up Gang as they are rappers that are ahead of the game in many ways, much better than Lil Wayne in my opinion, as well as download Vol. 3 off of a torrent. After all, Vol. 3 is free!
