Album Review

Danny Elfman's surprisingly upbeat and uplifting score for director Shawn Levy’s Real Steel, a Hugh Jackman-starring sci-fi romp about boxing robots that owes more to Rocky than it does Transformers, trades in many of the composer’s signature moves (ghostly choirs and quirky, symphonic bombast) for a more lyrical approach. Rooted in bluesy, country-folk guitar and John Williams-esque slabs of pastoral Americana, Elfman still gets in the occasional explosion, but there’s a comfy, rootsy vibe that permeates the score and echoes fellow composer Greg Edmonson's work on Joss Whedon's beloved outlaw sci-fi television series Firefly.

The Return of Brilliance

Not since his masterpiece score for the classic film Midnight Run has Danny Elfman created such atmospheric and fitting music that defined his uniqueness like he has for Real Steel. The picturesque landscape he's woven through each of these songs not only beautifully reflects and adds to what is on the screen, but also it brilliantly becomes a soundtrack for those of us who hear it through our own lives. Not many scores can morph off the screen and merge into the listeners daily goings and doings. This one does, and does it wonderfully!

Amazing movie!!!

You should put atoms intro in here!! I love that movie and if the song at the end of the movie when the credits start isn't the same as atoms intro, you should really put that one up as well!!

Danny Elfman has got some REAL STEEL

Danny Elfman, he has never disappointed me. I had a bit of doubt at first, but I had faith and behold, I was given a brilliant artistic treasure of an album! This is quite possibly my favorite of his countless albums. He fits the movies tempo as well as the emotion. Words cannot describe this instant classic to any and all Elfman fans. I treasure every moment with every track on this album. I HIGHLY recommend this album as a DEFINITE BUY!!! You will not be disappointed! Danny Elfman has proven once again that he is clearly one of the best composers of all time.
