Edgy Punch!
On first listen, I am drawn in by the energy of the songs. The guitar playing is solid and the vocals deliver an edgy punch. A number of the songs trade-off lines between the female and male singer, and that is when VB's sound hooks me the most. "If Only" is my initial favorite, although the intentional muffling of the voices does not give the lead vocalist the chance to show off her wonderful voice, which is why if you listen to "If Only" first, you must also listen to one of the other great songs, such as "Dead and Gone," "Royal Treatment" and/or "Like a Wave." I also encourage you to check out their videos, which are entertaining and radiate the duo's personalities. I particularly like the video for "Like a Wave." And, I am intrigued by the final song "Release" which takes their sound in a different, but inviting direction. I will listen to the album closely over the next month and if I have further insight, I'll write more.
