Great album...whatever you call the genre...
I was surprised at how much I liked this album. Coming to it as a fan of Sponge (the singer's more well-known band), I thought it would be an interesting diversion but didn't expect it would be something I'd listen to as often as I do. I'm not a fan of country music, but this stuff has an edge to it...I guess you could call this "punk country" or "country punk"...? In any case, it's quite unique and very interesting. Highlights are "Hard Part Of Town" (this sounds like an instant classic!), "Mistrusted", and the cover of Johnny Cash's "Boy Named Sue."
