iTunes Review

Pepper Rabbit’s sophomore album reveals subtler, more disquieting undertones, with strong hints of psychedelia interlaced between layers of twinkling keyboards and floating guitar lines. Singer Xander Singh takes on the character of a precocious child wandering through shifting fantasy scenes, capturing both delight and foreboding. Tracks like the buoyantly waltzing “Rose Mary Stretch” and the deceptively cheerful “Family Planning” unreel tales of discontent amidst quivering analog synthesizers and perky electric pianos. Antisocial sentiments add heft to the candyfloss textures of “Murder Room.” Towards the album’s conclusion — especially on “The Ballad of Alessandro Moreschi” and “Tiny Fingers” — the songs turn melancholy, suggestive of the darker dreams of Brian Wilson or Syd Barrett. While Singh and partner Luc Laurent sustain a sensuous, ear-catching groove in “The Annexation of Puerto Rico.” Without succumbing to preciousness, Red Velvet Snow Ball conjures up a naïve sense of wonder even as it suggests more mature emotions seething below the surface.

Incredible

Pepper rabbit does a pretty great job with taking a ton of sounds and blending them into a wonderful masterpiece. I honestly didn't like Beauregard too much with the exception of "older brother" and "harvest moon". The atmosphere was too saddening for my taste. Red Velvet Snowball is Pepper Rabbit's happier and livelier album. Every song on the album is just amazing and still keeps the Pepper Rabbit sound that everyone loves. Buy this album, it's alot better than most of the stuff you'll hear on the radio, and it's easily one of the most creative albums this year.

AMAZING ALBUM

Red Velvet Snow Ball is an amazing album! I have been waiting for this album a long time. It has the sound I came to love Pepper Rabbit for. The only thing I wasn't overly excited about was their edit of Lake House. The demo version has a raw sound and a great unedited feel that is left out by the album version. This album is a must for anyone's collection. An absolutely amazing follow up cd to their debut, Beauregard. Highly recommended!

Great Stuff

I would agree with the comment about Pepper Rabbit's first album, good couple of songs but sad. This album i have really come to love and am excited to see them open for braids!
