I'm Feelin' Ya!
This album rocks!! especially in the bedroom!!! i've seen Nick Gomez live and he throws in some great licks that will boggle the mind!!
Take this baby out for a spin.
First off, know that this So Cal native (Born in San Pedro, brought up in Palos Verdes) can totally play. He's one of the fine new voices of the next generation of contemporary jazz sax players, and he's incredibly talented. After getting kicked out of his high school marching band during his senior year, Nick ended up with a scholarship to Berklee College of Music and studied under none other than Walter Beasley. Nick's first album, RED VINYL, is totally self-composed and produced, and bodes well indeed for his musical career. This is not formula Smooth Jazz... It's fresh, sometimes edgy...extremely well produced and performed. It's got a sense of humor, attitude, and some serious playing going for it. Nick Gomez has the chops, the musical honesty, and a killer debut disc in RED VINYL. Check out "You Feelin' Me?" "Groove Me," the mellow "Lullaby for Bella," and the title track...those are my favorites...and you'll hear what I'm talking about here. I could go on describing the vibe and tunes on this CD, but I think Nick does a great job of that on his web site. He states, "This record introduces a fresh, young and vibrant sound to Smooth Jazz. The turtlenecks and blazers have been taken away for your convenience. There's nothing here but hot sticky sweaty groovy RED VINYL."
